Beautiful Data Visualisation

Some beautiful data visualisation by AaronKoblin
from 24 hours of flight data…. some beautiful imagery and animation.

Check out the  “flight patterns” data represented on a Google map with filters….

Another really cool work that he was involved with with Takashi Kawashima is the ten thousand cents project.

10,000 people were paid 1c each to re-draw a small square of a $100 US bill.

An animation of a $100 note composed of these drawings can be found on the project site with some more info about the project.

All proceeds from the project went to the one laptop child project….

Up for some nudity?

I posted some images from NY photographer Spencer Tunick of his global warming shoot with Greenpeace a while ago.
I have heard he is seeking volunteers to model nude at Sydney’s Opera House.

You can register to volunteer to be one of the 2000 required volunteers.

Click! Crowd curated photography

The Brooklyn museum had an exhibition going on called Click! back in August which has recently come to my attention.

The exhibition contains a series of photoraphs in the them of “Changing faces of Brooklyn” which were posted on-line.

In the spirit of James Surowiecki‘s  Wisdom of Crowds, this exhibition enabled people to comment on and rate images on their web site. The most popular images appeared in  the museum.

Click! explores whether Surowiecki’s premise can be applied to the visual arts—is a diverse crowd just as “wise” at evaluating art as the trained experts? “

You can check it out here.

Brazillian Dreams

Brazilian street artist brothers ‘Os Gomeos’ from San Poala currently have an exhibition on in NYC.

CHECK THE VIDEO HERE!!

Inspired by their dreams (often having the same dreams) these brothers have created some amazing pieces, including murals, 3D sculptures, street art, paintings, and interactive spaces.

Check out this interview with them and see their beautiful, beautiful work here.

They’ve definatelty taken their art much farther than the street.

If you happen to be in NYC – go check the exhibition out.
