Swine Flu: The Viral Virus

It seems banter about the Swine Flu is all over the web, Mashable reports that tweets on Twitter are numbering 10,000 per minute using trendrr.com. If you are not familiar, trendrr is a great way to visualise trends on line.

This hysteria does raise an interesting question for me about misinformation on the web.

With the reality of 10,000 tweets per minute, the term “broken telephone” is a complete understatement.

Mashable have put together a great post about tracking the virus online using authoritative sources, however for the rest of us there is always the banter on  twitter.

Just acknowledging that this is a serious issue, the SMH reports that Australia will not be unaffected.
