Death of the Page View

Finally…Nielson Netratings have decided to base their rankings on the duration users spend time on sites rather than by page impressions.

Finally user experience will be considered by organisations so greedy that they forget their user experience in exchange for maximum eyeballs and page hits. Nielson say that this metric will provide  a measure of the level of user engagement.

The use of Ajax, and proliferation of widgets, and streaming video have resulted in this change….and it’s a good thing.
